Don’t shut your eyes to a trophy deer hunt with or without elk.

      Hunt ID: CO-ElkMDeer-All-ROSEMONT-GST-IMT
When it comes to being resourceful this outfitter is an over achiever. Where there is a will he will find a way and he always has the will to bring down game and reel in fish everything to make that happen is just adjustment.
What if you could hunt right next to a coveted Colorado Quality area that take 8 points to draw but being next door you have 60% chances of drawing with 0 points and 100% with only 1 point! This outfitter has prime elk area and a prime deer area. He limits his hunts to 4 hunters and has prime core area property for high success on elk and trophy size for Mule deer. Cabin / Bunkhouse lodging and meals are included in the guide service.
      ——————————————————————————————————————————————
The elk hunting is in GMU062 and is right next to GMU061 one of Colorado reduced hunter areas done that way to increase the quality of the game animals. You will be hunting 800 acres of private land covered by dense scrub oak and Pinyon pines, not to mention a large 300 acre pasture that blows off when it snows so the elk know they can always feed there. You own their day time bedding area. Around the 800 acres are miles and miles of Uncompahgre National forest and over 30000,000 acres of migrating animals with hunting pressure packs the elk and deer into this safety zone and you. The honey hole property has been a preserve for elk and deer for at least 5 years, only hunted 1 time during that span. There are two watering holes that are used by not only the deer and elk on the private land but the ones from the surrounding 2 mile radius since is one of the location where they can get want and the only one with a preserve safety status. Many cow elk and doe deer have their calves and fawns on the property, so the young would start here and stays here until migration. Migration time some move out but even more move in from the higher ground seeking their number 1 concern, safety. The best way to hunt the property has a lot to do with the season. During the migration deer and elk migration this property becomes part of the elk corridor with elk and deer traveling through like a bus station. Many bulls over 300 have been seen from the door of the cabin, with 340’s and 350’s showing up without an invitation.
In archery season these bull come into this are to find cows and calves that have been overlooked and to enjoy the safety along with the feed and water the area holds.

In addition there is a steep canyon adjacent to the property on 5,000 acres that holds big bull but is difficult to walk; this area has large bulls that are being pushed by hunters with horses which send the elk to this area for safety.

The process is to surgically remove the bull or buck that you want without overly disturbing the rest of the elk or deer. In the thick scrub oat the other will run a short way, wonder what happened and settle right down. After shooting a deer or an elk just sit there quietly and let the others get their distance then slip in and get your deer or elk.
This is a low volume hunt in fact instead of driving into the cabin it is a ¼ mile walk. You will be literally living with the deer and elk. No motorized vehicles on the private property. I would call this a “low impact Wilderness pack in hunt in a honey hole full of scrub oak cover and around that thousands and thousands of acres of public land hunters herding even more elk into than you had to begin with. This the deer and elk safety zone, like a preserve, but this one you get to hunt. Morning finds watching a funnel or doing spot and stalk on herds of elk or big deer. In the afternoon the tree stands on the river where they bed and move around during the day is a sure bet? These are great places to just look out over clearings. You are in the main migration corridor so there is always elk and deer traffic on the property. Every morning you wake up to a whole new batch of animals as they travel from the high ground in the forest to the low ground in the river valley. Elk may own the place but many deer also have found the safety of this lightly hunted scrub oak and creek preserve.
This IS a very unique hunt, with a rustic cabin hidden in the pinyon pines and scrub oak, No running water and an outhouse help keep the cabin quiet year round. Wood stove fire and comfortable beds bring sleeping bags this is for the rustic. The outfitter brings in water and supplies and of course provides you with meals.
This is a 7 day trip and a 5 day hunt, get there a day early to go in and get set up quietly. On the 7th day you come out with all of your equipment and animals. For big loads a vehicle can be used.
The seasons that are hunted here is Archery, Muzzleloader 1st rifle, 2nd rifle, 3rd rifle, 4th rifle.
This hunt in $ 4000 reduced down to only $2495 for a combo or single animal hunt.
Additional discount at $ 1995 each for a group of 3 or more for the 1st, 4th, Archery or Muzzleloader season.

Ranch Hunt for Trophy Mule Deer
We are located in GMU065, the West Cimarron deer and elk herds migrate down in October/November and into the winter to the river valley below. They move up and down the corridor bedding in the alders along the river during the day and coming out to feed in the surrounding fields in the evening and returning to the alders after first light.
The game density is very high during the hunting seasons because of the funneling effect of the private land in the valley and I have counted up to 75 deer and 40 bull elk at a time in my fields. During our hunting seasons the bulls are back in bachelor groups again and for some reason known only to the elk we seldom get any cows elk here.
The deer hunting is phenomenal with new bucks moving in daily as the migration peaks.
According to Peterson Hunting Journal in their December 2008/January 2009 issue (pg. 14) Montrose county ranks 7th in North America for record book mulies. You can see the caliber of bucks we harvest here in the pictures. This is a Low Impact Hunt for those that don’t want to walk to the top of every mountain to see what is up there but are pleased with hunting flat land of hayfields, River bottom, cottonwood trees and big deer. This is a ‘farmland’ hunt where we hunt from stands early in the morning and evening looking to catch the animals moving to and from their bedding areas. During mid-day is a time to catch a nap, go fly fishing, or bird hunting before getting back out to the stands for the evening. By only being on stand in the morning and evening we catch the peak movement This style of hunting offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is not physically able to chase game in the high country to harvest a trophy animal. There is a waiting list for this hunt so if you book now and put in for a point you will be certain to draw on your hunt year with 1 point and not require a Landowner Voucher. If you burn your points the prior year contact http://www.DiscountedHunts.net for voucher sales across Colorado along with New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California and Oregon.
For those of you who want the high country, we can make arrangements for that as well. We do offer high country hunts for the early season for deer and elk.
Our Big game hunts are extremely limited and bookings must be made well in advance. The CDOW hunting regulations can be reached at http://www.wildlife.state.co.us and applications must be in by the first of April.
We also offer guided waterfowl and pheasant hunts which can be combined with winter fly fishing.

Season Information for GMU065, for the most part the deer are handled as a trophy area and licenses are buck only licenses. You will also notice the license is designated GMU064 instead of GMU065.

      ELK
This area is well represented for its number of elk and even more enjoyable about the hunting is that the bull licenses are either sex licenses, so you can hunt big bulls until the last day and if you don’t see one that you like then fill the freezer with a cow, all on the same license. If you just want a cow to begin with they also have cow licenses available at half the price of an either sex or bull license. For non-Resident the Bull or in this case either sex is $589 or a cow is $ 454.
If you hunt elk on the ranch here is the drawing information.
